About the Artist

Hello and welcome! My name is Mary Staeben. I hope you will find a carving here that you like or something that will give you inspiration for your own piece of custom artwork.

The In Studio section includes my most recent original carvings, that are all available for sale. The Gallery section is a larger collection of my custom artwork from past years and can easily be used as inspiration for your own original carving.

For the last 35 years I have worked in various media. Some of those media include: fiber art, sketching, watercolor, acrylic, porcelain lace draping, sculpting, and wood carving. For the last 20 years I have worked mainly with wood. I carve both relief carvings and three dimensional carvings. All of my carvings have a large amount of detail and most are painted to add even more life. I use non-fading acrylic paint and seal my painted artwork with a UV protectant.

I have lived in the Wisconsin northwoods for over 30 years and you will see that this has greatly impacted my artwork. Most of my custom carvings consist of northwoods wilderness scenes and northwoods wildlife.

If you would like to contact me or have any questions you can use the Contact page to reach me. I have flexible studio hours.  Please feel free to use the comment card, email, or call me with any questions or comments.
